2017 Faculty Awards

It’s that time of the year when we recognize our outstanding faculty who make the College of Veterinary Medicine an extraordinary place to work, learn, discover and serve.  Please join us in celebrating the 2017 faculty award recipients:
 
Zoetis Award for Veterinary Research Excellence
This award, chosen by the Council for Research, fosters innovative research on which the scientific advancement of the profession depends. The award recognizes outstanding research effort and productivity by principal investigators whose research has attained or is likely to attain national recognition.
 
 
 
Zoetis Distinguished Veterinary Teacher Award
This award, chosen by the Honors & Awards Committee from nominations from each professional class, recognizes outstanding teaching and instruction. Dr. Millward will also be nominated for the national AAVMC Distinguished Veterinary Teacher Award, presented by Zoetis.
 
 
 
Charles C. Capen Teaching Excellence Award for Graduate Education
This award recognizes a faculty member of the College of Veterinary Medicine for excellence in graduate education. The award serves to honor faculty members who excel in their roles as advisors and mentors for Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy candidates, as participants in departmental graduate programs, or as resource persons for the graduate students of the College.
 
 
 
William L. Ingalls Award for Exceptional Service
This award recognizes individuals who have provided exceptional service to the College of Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University. Recipients of the award shall have demonstrated continued dedication to the College over a long career in the College and will have had a sustained impact on its programs. The award is not an annual award but will be given on those occasions when such individuals are identified. The award will be presented on an appropriate occasion as determined by the Dean of the College.
 
 
David White Research Award
This award honors a successful principal investigator based in the College of Veterinary Medicine. The award rewards demonstrated success by providing funds for hiring a postdoctoral researcher to work with the honored award winner. This award also provides the opportunity to a young aspiring clinical or research scientist to prepare for an academic veterinary faculty career by taking up apprenticeship with a successful principal investigator, by learning and practicing the art of grant writing, the day-to-day research tasks, and advising graduate students in their pursuit of research.
 
Excellence in Teaching Awards - Each year, each of the professional veterinary classes chooses one faculty member for teaching ability and caliber of instruction, leadership and character, and responsiveness to the needs of the students. These awardees comprise the nominations for the Zoetis Distinguished Veterinary Teacher Award. For this year, the awardees are:
