Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association (SCAVMA)

Welcome to The Ohio State University's Student Chapter of the AVMA!

What is SCAVMA?

We are the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. We are the university-level representation of our profession’s national organisation – the American Veterinary Medical Association – and we serve at your pleasure.

On the National Level

Each Student Chapter (SCAVMA) is granted an official charter by the AVMA through which students are afforded a conduit into organised veterinary medicine.

The Student AVMA (SAVMA) represents students on the national level by representing us in the AVMA House of Delegates, and SAVMA is comprised of 32 SCAVMA Chapters, the SAVMA Executive Board, one Associate organisation (SAAVMA) and one satellite programme.

More explicitly delineated, there are 32 Student Chapters including 28 Colleges in the contiguous United States, Ross University, St. George's University, Atlantic Veterinary College, the University of Glasgow and one SAAVMA (Student Associate organisation), and one satellite program in Nebraska. This affords students representation in a total of 34 veterinary medicine schools across the globe. There are approximately 15,000 members in SAVMA to date.
