Veterinary Laser Surgery

This conference was for veterinarians and veterinary technicians. The first day of the course provided a comprehensive introduction to the use of surgical lasers in a small animal practice The material covered included the fundamentals of laser physics, safety, and laser-tissue interactions Participants learned to operate CO2 lasers and practiced performing everyday laser surgey procedures Tissue specimens were provided to practice skin incisions, mass removals, feline declaws, eyelid surgeries, oral and dermal ablations, and airway, aural, perineal, and abdominal surgeries. The second day of the course was designed for the experienced CO2 laser user in small animal practice. The workshop included expert guidance in performing oral, perineal, upper airway, aural, and dental procedures. Both days of the workshop featured filmed case presentations by accomplished laser surgeons, Dr. Peter Henning Eeg and Dr. Douglas Mader.
